Lot Essay

Brunet: 'Ouvrage ... le plus complet que l'on eut publié jusqu'alors sur la Grèce moderne.' The number of plates in different copies varies a great deal. For a full discussion see Blackmer: that copy had only 14 plates out of a possible 38. This copy is bound without the two maps at the end of vol. VI which were sometimes issued in a separate slipcase and are consequently often missing.
