Lot Essay

A Schooner of 330 tons, she was constructed of steel by Fleming & Ferguson of Paisley in 1890. She was 165' 5" in length, had a breadth of 24' 1" and draught of 14' 1". She was originally named Imogen and was owned by J.R. Wood and registered in Newcastle. In 1893, she was sold to D.S. Schilizzi and port of registry then became Southampton. In 1894, Kenneth M. Clark & Norman Clark became the owners of the vessel and renamed her Katoomba, port of registry changed to Glasgow. In 1896 she was sold to C.E. & C.A. Allan who changed her name to Tighnamara. Then in 1898 the Countess of Shaftesbury became the owner. In 1899 the vessel was sold to Colonel Henry Platt and her namne was changed to Verona, port of registry became Greenock. In 1903, Lt. Col. C. Meeking became her owner until 1913 when she was sold to Alfred D. Broughton. In 1914 she was resold to Hugh Andrews.

Unfortunately, the vessel is omitted from the Register of Yachts after the 1915 edition.
