A squat mallet-shaped vase with short neck and slightly flaring rim, the flattened shoulder and neck painted and gilt with autumnal maple branches, the sides with a continuous scene of scholars, ladies and child attendants before a screen depicting Mount Fuji, and tables supporting vases of flowers and trees, the foot with bands of scrolling foliage (minor gilt rubbing to rims) -- 2¾in.high, signed Yabu Meizan.
