A pair of ovoid vases painted and gilt with tapering rectangular panels of butterflies amongst chrysanthemums and birds amongst flowering bushes, on grounds of quatrefoil panels of ho-o, between four more borders of lappets and cell pattern (some gilt rubbing) -- 9¾in. high. signed to the panels Niimura, impressed marks of Taizan to the bases.
