A pair of ovoid vases with short flaring necks and flattened rims, painted and heavily gilt with scenes of the Immortals painting and discussing scrolls in bamboo groves, the necks with Tokugawa mon on cell pattern grounds, between formal borders (some gilt rubbing) -- 17½in. high, signed Satsuma yaki Gyokuko, below blue enamel Satsuma mon.
