A South Italian gnathia ware askos, the body decorated with chequered pattern, the front with hanging dramatic mask with curling beard flanked by vine trails, applied red and yellow details -- 4½in. (10.8cm.) high; and an amphoriskos with two vertical handles, decorated with lattice-work pattern and applied dots, one handle repaired -- 6½in. (16.5cm.) high, 4th Century B.C.
