An early Jackson document, a requisition for the expenses incurred by Thomas Fearn, Acting Hospital Surgeon at Fort Strother,"by order of General Andrew Jackson," listing expenses and salary totalling $143.44. On the verso, beneath a complex certification that the account is an accurate one, Jackson writes: "The Quartermaster Gen[era]l...will pay the within account..."
