Three valentine cards with hand-coloured lithographed centres and printed verses, one by George Kershaw, another depicting a young lady waving farewell to her suitor surrounded by a garland of carnations, the encircling printed verse reads 'All powerful love who can resist thy force/Who stem the torrent of thy pleasing course/Cupid commands, right gladly they obey/Content to follow in his flow'ry way The signals giv'n, the Horseman spurs his steed/Then waves his hat, Thus may my suit succeed', 10 x 8in., c. 1840.
