A late 19th Century model of a single cylinder four pillar table engine built by E. Jekyll Esq. Measurements overall -- 34x20in. (86.3x50.7cm)
With cylinder approx. 2in. bore x 3in. stroke, centrally mounted valve chest with separate steamways, the valve operated through a 'lift-off' eccentric rod, quadrants and rods, the crosshead located by two frame mounted beams with forked ends (one drop link missing), rod driven feed pump and crankshaft mounted in two trunnions on entablature supported on four doric columns. Further details include barrelled connecting rod, spoked flywheel, rope driven Watt governor (linkage and valve missing), wooden multi-V belt pulley, unpainted, Metal bed and simulated brick and stone plinth with brass plate engraved 'Constructed and presented by E.
