Further details
Luigi Garguilo, 1806-1883 began his Sedile Dominova workshop in 1824 and by 1857 he, with Michele Grandville was referred to as the most important producer of Intarsia in Sorrento.
He seems particularly to have favoured this form of table. The top with its deep frieze has an undulating ogee arched edge and is bordered and rests on a column inlaid with figures and scenes taken from classical antiquity.
In A. Fiorentino. Il Mobile Intarsiato 1987, similar tables and marquetry by Luigi Garguilo are illustrated, one being dated to 1858.
