A well detailed ½in:1ft scale wood and metal static display model of the Watson-type 45ft R.N.L.I. motor lifeboat 'Elsie', No.ON622, built by R. Philips -- 19 x 23in (48.2 x 58.5 cm)
With masts, rigging and full suit of stitched linen sails with rope bindings and reefing points, Samson post, cleats, hatches, anchor, engine covers, bilge pumps, ship's wheels, oars, rowl;ocks, and other details. The finely planked hull with bilge and drop keels is fitted with grab ropes, bow fender and luffing holes and is finished in R.L.N.I. livery with tan sails and mounted on two turned wood columns. NOTES: This lifeboat was the prototype of this type of lifeboat and served at St. Mary's, Isles of Scilly, 1919-1930. In 16 launches it saved 129 lives, and two silver and six bronze R.N.L.I. medals were awarded to members of the crew.
