A Napoleon III purple-heart, walnut and gilt-metal-mounted bonheur du jour, crossbanded and inlaid with lines, the upper part with a cresting centred by an oval plaquette of a lady, fitted with shelves and two drawers, enclosed by a panelled door, centred by a painted panel of a courting couple, the hinged tooled leather-lined writing slope, decorated with interlaced folaite scrolls and musical trophies, with a frieze drawer below, on fluted turned tapering legs joined by cross stretchers centred by an urn on ring-turned feet -- 26in.
