A mid-Victorian ebonised and gilt-metal-mounted bonheur du jour, with egg and dart and stiff-leaf mouldings, the upper part with a three-quarter gallery and acanthus scroll frieze, enclosed by a pair of panelled doors with hardstone decoration of urns of fruiting branches, with two drawers below flankd by projecting angled column stiles, the lower part with a tooled leather-lined writing slide and drawer, on square tapering legs joined by shaped cross stretchers, on caps.
