An Imari bowl and saucer
Edo Period (Circa 1730)
Decorated in underglaze blue, iron-red, yellow, green and gilt enamels with a central roundel depicting a sage seated at a low table, reserved on a diaper-pattern ground enriched with three petal-shaped panels enclosing a chrysanthemum spray between single figures in gilt, the slightly everted rim encircled by a narrow trellis diaper pattern border, some rubbing to the gilt
