A fine purse, worked with brightly coloured beads with a personification of the four continents, with the name of each continent worked in beads above, with a drawstring fastening, French, late 17th century, damaged
Provenance
This purse is sold with a framed letter, dated 1853, to the effect that the purse was worked by nuns for Queen Anne. The letter then gives provenance for the purse until 1899.
