unmarked, circa 1831
Campana-shaped, on square base, with rocaille foot and gadrooned knop, the body applied with cast grapevine border, with two twisted vine handles, with rocaille rim, the domed cover with rocaille borders, with cast finial of a gentleman leading a horse, the body engraved with inscription

The inscription reads, 'MAURITIUS MILITARY CUP 1831, FOR HORSES OF ALL DENOMINATIONS, BONA FIDES THE PROPERTY OF RESIDENTS IN THE COLONY, CARRYING WEIGHT FOR AGE, HEATS TWICE ROUND, THE WINNER OF THIS CUP TWO YEARS SUCCESSIVELY TO BECOME THE PROPRIETOR'
