A set of twelve German parcel-gilt Apostle spoons
unmarked, probably second half of the 17th century
Each with fig-shaped bowl and plain stem of rectangular section, with grotesque mask lower terminal extending to a rat-tail on the reverse, the terminals each formed as a different Apostle, the stems each engraved with a different inscription, the upper bowl of each engraved with a coat-of-arms
each 7 1/8in, (18.2cm.) long
19oz. (617gr.)
The inscriptions are abbreviated lines from the Apostolic Creed in Latin.

The arms are those of a Cardinal. (12)
