Each with shaped rectangular seat above serpentine and floral carved rails on foliate scroll-headed cabriole legs, one covered in red silk, the other in green velvet, one with A Bianchi trade label

Lot Essay

These elegant stools, with delicate relief-carved foliate ornament, relate to other Turinese stools with similar ornament and proportions, for instance an example in the Palazzina di Stupinigi (illustrated in R. Antonetto, Minusieri ed Ebanisti del Piemonte, Turin, 1985, p. 226, fig. 319), and others illustrated in V. Viale et al., Mostra del Barocco Piemontese, Turin, 1963, figs. 198-9.
