Norton], 1598. 2 works (parts) in one volume, 2° (273 x 178mm). Full-page engraved plan in the text (lacks a preliminary leaf, probably blank, and the final blank, fore-margin of the plan and a woodcut diagram shaved, waterstained throughout). Late 18th-century sheep (rebacked, rubbed). Provenance: William Seyliard (inscription, dated 1612, enumerating his seven children, written on the recto and verso of the title). First English edition of part 1 translated by Richard Greneway and second English edition of part 2 translated by Sir Henry Savile. STC 23644 & 23643.
POLYBIUS (?205-125 B.C.). The History ... translated ... by Edward Grimeston. London: N. Okes for S. Waterson, 1634. 2° (310 x 205mm), title within a woodcut border, folding printed table (lacks a leaf of preliminaries and the final leaf, both ? blank, title creased and crudely repaired at the fore-margin, browned and spotted throughout), early 20th-century calf-backed boards (slight wear to upper hinge).
