A PAIR OF FINE FAMILLE ROSE RUBY-BACK SOUP-PLATES
Yongzheng (1723-35)
Each finely and delicately decorated on the semi-eggshell porcelain in a central roundel with grisaille exotic flowers on a gold ground, a large peony head at the centre surrounded by smaller carnations, tulips, hibiscus, sunflowers, iris, and poppies, encircled by a continuous spiral, the well with a band of iron-red and gilt floral cell-pattern repeated at the rim, and the border with a grisaille ribbon with bows and floral clusters, the reverse under a ruby glaze, each with a hairline
