A GILT-METAL MOUNTED DOUBLE-OPENING ENAMEL SNUFF-BOX
probably South Staffordshire, circa 1760
Narrow upright white enamelled copper box with hinged lids on cover and base, one end with deep interior, the other with shallow interior, the inner and outer covers and left and right hand side walls painted in colours with scattered playing cards, the front and rear wall sides painted in sepia with elaborate score sheets entitled 'Tours Simples.' and 'Tours doubles.', the wavy gilt-metal mounts with waved engraved thumbpieces
