AN EMPIRE GOLD BONBONNIÈRE SET WITH A MINIATURE IN DIAMOND-BORDERED ENAMEL FRAME
by Janvier Féburier (fl. 1807-1815), marked, with the third standard mark and the excise mark for gold Paris 1798-1809 and the Parisian post-Revolutionary unofficial standard mark for 18 carat gold, later struck with two Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks for gold, the miniature signed 'Olagnon', possibly for Pierre-Victor Olagnon (1786- after 1845)
Circular bonbonnière, the sides and base with panels of engine-turned reeding, the independent lid centred by a glazed oval miniature depicting a young lady called the Countess de Vaudreuil, in white dress with muslin fichu and knotted blue silk ribbon, with powdered high-piled hair, within a lunette applied with floral wreath of silver-mounted rose-cut diamonds on a translucent royal blue enamelled guilloché ground, cover, sides and base framed by a frosted border stamped with trailing foliage and pine-cones
3 1/16 in (78 mm.) diam.
