A complete set of the voyages, comprising:

John HAWKESWORTH (1715?-1773). An account of the Voyages undertaken... for making Discoveries in the Southern Hemisphere, and successively performed by Commodore Byron, Captain Wallis, Captain Carteret, and Captain Cook, in the Dolphin, the Swallow, and the Endeavour. London: W. Strahan and T. Cadell, 1773. 3 text volumes and 1 atlas volume, 4° (287 x 220mm). 51 (of 52 called for in the list of plates) engraved plates, maps and charts, 19 folding, mounted on guards. (Short marginal tears in volumes I and III, occasional offsetting, some light spotting and browning, particularly to margins of titles; atlas volume lacking 'Chart of All the Islands', some offsetting and spotting, a few minor tears along folds.) FIRST EDITION, late issue, including the Chart of the Straights of Magellan chart and 'The Directions for Placing the Cuts and Charts'.

Cadell, 1777. 2 volumes, 4° (288 x 225mm), and atlas volume, oblong folio (300 x 435mm). Engraved portrait, 63 engraved plates, 31 folding. (Offsetting to volume I title, some browning or light spotting, short marginal tears to plate XLIX, small repaired tear to plate III). FIRST EDITION.

J. COOK and James KING. A Voyage to the Pacific Ocean... for making Discoveries in the Northern Hemisphere. London: W. and A. Strahan for G. Nicol and T. Cadell, 1784. 3 volumes, 4° (290 x 230mm) with 24 engraved plates, 13 folding, and folio atlas volume (573 x 425mm) with 63 engraved plates, 2 folding, mounted on guards. (Text volumes with some browning and offsetting, occasional surface soiling, volume III with marginal repair to p.125, atlas with some spotting, mainly marginal, and a few short marginal tears). FIRST EDITION.

The text volumes bound in non-uniform contemporary calf gilt, the atlas volume to the Second Voyage in modern half calf, the atlas volume to the Third Voyage in contemporary half calf; all volumes uniformly rebacked, the spines gilt in compartments with contrasting gilt lettering-pieces (variable light rubbing or wear to extremities, occasional scuffing of boards, neat repairs to the boards of the volumes I-III of the Third Voyage).
