Lot Essay

Another drawing by the same hand (Sumowski 1814x, dated circa 1655) was also with Bernard Houthakker, and was the following lot in the sale. Egbert Haverkamp-Begemann has suggested that both drawings may be by an artist close to Gerbrand van den Eeckhout, W. Sumowski, op. cit., under no. 1814x.
