A GEORGE III SATINWOOD AND MARQUETRY ENVELOPE CARD-TABLE
The square top with flowerhead border, centred by a flowerhead and enclosing a green baize-lined playing-surface, above a plain frieze with a mahogany-lined drawer and square parquetry border, on square tapering legs with collars, brass caps and castors, previously with a work-basket, the sliding frame remaining, inscribed in chalk lot 199.

Lot Essay

A late 18th century card-table of this form bears the label of the Exeter cabinet-makers Goff & Gully (D. Jones, 'An Anthology of Regional Furniture with Maker's Identification', Regional Furniture, 1993, fig. 48)
Another satinwood tea-table, with this form of four-sided folding top was formerly in the possession of Lord Zouche of Haryngworth (P. Macquoid, A History of English Furniture; The Age of Satinwood, London, 1908, colour plate VI.
