A FINE JADEITE WRISTREST
QING DYNASTY, LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY
Of rectangular shape, naturalistically carved as a section of a bamboo with a line of nodules across one end of the gently arched surface, below a pair of birds perched on a flowering prunus branch carved in relief, the concave reverse side conforming to imitate the bamboo pith cavity, each of the internode section decorated respectively with a bat in flight, a narcissus spray and a heron wading through waterweeds, the highly translucent stone with shades of blue-green tone suffused with apple-green streaks
