Further details
A 1952 graduate of the Danish Royal Academy of Arts, Kjaerholm was instrumental in re-defining Danish furniture design from the mid-1950s and throughout the 1960s. In contrast to the contemporary Danish cabinet-maker tradition, Kjaerholm instead selected steel as his primary medium, his highly finished and detailed designs expressing a seemingly absolute discipline of line and tension. Kjaerholm was awarded the prestigious Grand Prix at the Milan Triennales of both 1957 and 1960.
