Lot Essay

The mark of a script lowercase 'y' found on the present saucer is that of an as yet unidentified painter of landscapes, birds and chinoiseries active 1752-1758. See David Peters, Decorator and Date Marks on C18th Vincennes and Sèvres Porcelain, privately printed, 1997, p. 85.
