Blue interlaced L's enclosing date letters ee for 1782, painter's mark for Capelle and gilder's mark for Vincent to both, incised o 6u 3 to the cup, 0 6u to the saucer
Both cup and saucer decorated between bands of 'pearls' with a richly tooled band of gilt foliate scrolls terminating in flowerheads, alternate flowers applied with gold foil and 'jeweled' red and green rosettes, gilt dentil rims
2 3/8in. (6cm.) high, the cup; 4 7/8in. (12.4cm.) diam., the saucer (2)

See The Collection of Charles-Otto Zieseniss; Christie's Paris, 6 December 2001, lot 299 for a similarly decorated turquoise cup and saucer also gilt by Vincent and dated 1782 and lot 134 for a cup and saucer made to commemorate the birth of the Dauphin and with the same mottled green ground as the present example.
