AN OLD BABYLONIAN HAEMATITE CYLINDER SEAL
Circa 1900-1700 B.C.
With Ishtar, the goddess of love and war, standing on the right, shown frontal from the waist up and in profile below, wearing a long creased robe open at the front with one leg projecting, her foot atop a small recumbent lion, a quiver rising from each shoulder, holding a double-lion-headed mace in one hand, a scimitar in the other, before her a bearded god wearing a brimmed hat and knee-length robe, a mace in his hand, and a Lama goddess in a horned tiara and a long flounced robe, with both hands raised, the terminal a three-line inscription in Babylonian cuneiform naming the owner "Sîn-rim-Urim, son of Zakkur-ilum, servant of Amurru"
