A large ivory okimono of a fruit-seller
Late Meiji Period
carved wearing tied robes and cloth hat, holding an apple in one hand and a basket full of fruit in the other with two small monkeys clambering on the side, his child kneels in front holding more fruit, on an oval base, signed red lacquer tablet to underside of base, on a carved wood stand -- 16½in. (42cm.) high, (age cracks).
