An ivory and boxwood okimono of a teacher and pupil
red lacquer seal signed Shizuyuhi, late 19th Century
both seated, the teacher holding a finely incised opened book from which the young boy draws, four books on the ground between them before a handled circular container, with writing box to one side -- 5¾in. (14.6cm.) wide, (split to front of teacher, minor age cracks).
