A RARE EARLY VICTORIAN WATERLINE SAILOR'S MODEL OF A ?ROYAL MAIL PADDLE STEAMER
with masts, rigging, carved figurehead, stayed funnel, two ship's boats and other simple deck fittings. The hull with paddle boxes and paddles, simulated gun ports, finely carved stern and quarter galleries is finished in yellow, black and green and set in a calm painted sea with dinghies alongside, with painted headland and yacht back-drop contained within a fine veneer glazed case with bun feet. Overall measurements -- 15 x 20¾in. (38 x 53cm.)
