A FINE BUILDER'S-STYLE MODEL OF THE ADMIRALTY HARBOUR PADDLE TUG H.M.P.T. STURDY (1912)
modelled using contemporary methods by C. Hooper with mast and rigging, stayed anchors with 'D' chains, fairleads, anchor-winch, deck lights, ventilators, belaying pins, bollards, companionways, secondary winch, superstructure with panelled wheel-house with binnacle over, hand rails, telegraphs, paddle boxes with gratings, rails and two boats, one covered, in davits, engine-room lights, stayed funnel with safety valve extension pipe and twin hooters, main towing gear, capstan, stove pipe and much other fine detailing. The moulded hull with planked, pinned and lacquered deck, 'silver' brightwork throughout, portholes, feathering paddles, buttons and rudder is mounted on four turned brass columns on display base with period-style 'ivorine' plate inscribed ADMIRALTY PADDLE TUG "STURDY" BUILT 1912 BY MESSRS. THORNEYCROFT SOUTHAMPTON, removeable wood-bound glazed cover. Measurements overall -- 26½ x 51 x 22½in. (67.5 x 130 x 57cm.)
