A WELL-PRESENTED BUILDER'S-STYLE MODEL OF THE COASTAL STEAM TUG JOFFRE (1916)
modelled by C. Hooper with communication masts, rigging, stayed anchors with 'D' chains, anchor winch, bitts, bollards, ventilators, companionways, superstructure with wheelhouse, telegraphs, helm and binnacle over, deck rails, two lifeboats with bottom boards and thwarts in davits, stayed funnel with safety valve extension pipe and hooter, boiler house, main and secondary towing gear, engine house with lights, coal shute covers, steam capstan and other details. The moulded hull with planked and pinned deck, four-blade brass propeller and rudder is finished in pink below the water line, black and varnish and mounted in four turned metal columns on raised mahogany display base with 'ivorine' style plate reading COASTAL STEAM TUG "JOFFRE" BUILT 1916 FOR LAWSON STEAM TUG CO. BY ARDROSSAN SHIPBUILDING CO., removable wood-bound glazed cover. Overall measurments -- 27 x 42 x 20in. (68.5 x 106.5 x 51cm.)
