Lot Essay

Cyrille Martin has confirmed the authenticity of this painting.

This work is dedicated to Léonce Bénédite, daughter of the famous curator of the Luxembourg Museum (then the Museum of Modern Art in Paris). Bénédite was the author of the Lebourg catalogue raisonné and was a friend of several post-impressionist artists.
