Lot Essay
This Irish centre table has a serpentined frieze echoing the scallop shell in its centre, and celebrating the triumph of Venus. Its bacchic lion-paw feet are squared in the Irish manner, while its 'Roman' acanthus carving extends down the leg and decorates the 'hock', a typical Irish characteristic.
