This unusual octagonal library table was possibly bought by the 1st Earl of Dunraven for Adare Manor, Co. Limerick. Adare had been built by his grandfather, Valentine Quin (d. 1744), and was later to be rebuilt in the fashionable Tudor-Revival style by the 2nd and 3rd Earls. A. W. N. Pugin was involved from 1846 in the designs for the Great Hall, dining-room, library and terrace. The house is now an hotel.
