A RARE 25-BORE ENGLISH BREECH-LOADING REPEATING GUN ON THE SO-CALLED 'LORENZONI' SYSTEM
Signed Robert Smyth fecit, late 17th Century
With tapering two-stage barrel with hinged fore-sight, the breech section octagonal then polygonal and retaining some engraved decoration, iron frame engraved en suite, brass revolving breech block, signed back-action lock engraved with strawberry foliage, hinged priming magazine cover also engraved with strawberry foliage, maple butt (old worm-holes) with engraved iron mounts, and engraved circular cover to the bullet magazine on the right side, the butt-plate incorporating a hinged cover to the butt-trap (in worn condition with surface pitting, parts replaced)
