A Victorian silver and ebonized wood presentation miniature garden spade and fork, of traditional form, the spade engraved 'Presented to Mr. H.M. Stanley from the Earl and Countess of Aberdeen as a memento of His Planting a Tree at Haddo House June 16th 1890 and With Best Wishes for his happiness and that of his bride from July 12th 1890 and ever after', the fork with four prongs, both with ebonized wooden shaft and handle, maker's mark of Thomas Prime & Son, 1876, in green velvet presentation box, the covers stamped with the initials 'H.M.S.', the interior stamped 'J. Macmichael (to the Queen) 42 South Audley St London W' 11in. (28cm.) long
