Lot Essay

Susan Houghton sold the majority of her collection of unusual Beatle mementos through these rooms in May 1992. She and a gang of three friends at the age of fifteen regularly attended The Beatles' concerts at the Cavern. The fans dubbed themselves The Cement Mixers and frequently requested The Beatles to dedicate songs to them. When The Beatles went to Hamburg in December 1962, Susan visited George Harrison's parents in Liverpool and struck up a friendship with them which lasted for years.
