FIRST EDITION OF GINSBERG'S VERY SCARCE SECOND BOOK, SIGNED BY GINSBERG on the front wrapper. This is one of about 50 copies mimeographed by Ginsberg on a ship off the coast of Alaska. Ginsberg had previously issued Howl in a mimeographed edition produced by Martha Rexroth for her husband Kenneth Rexroth's poetry class at San Francisco State College in 1955; Howl was issued commercially by City Light Books in 1956. VERY RARE: American Book Prices Current records only the Goodwin copy as being sold at auction since 1975 (Parke-Bernet, 25 October 1977, lot 391). Dowden, p.12.
