FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY GREENE TO FRED ZINNEMANN on the front free endpaper: "For Fred Zinnimann [sic], in memory of a film we never made. From Graham Greene July 2, 1981." The Austrian-born Zinnemann was responsible for several Hollywood masterpieces, including Act of Violence (1949); High Noon (1952), From Here to Eternity (1953); A Hatful of Rain (1957); and The Nun's Story (1958).
