Lot Essay

Although this commission, for the first women's medical college in Scotland, was officially claimed by the firm of Honeyman & Keppie, it was almost entirely Mackintosh's work, as witnessed by this perspective drawing. Very little of the building now remains intact but it was one of three crucial Mackintosh designs executed before the Glasgow School of Art, 1896.
