Lot Essay

Dunglass Castle, on the Clyde at Bowling, was the home of the parents of Margaret and Frances Macdonald from July 1899. The Macdonalds acquired various early pieces of furniture designed by Mackintosh and Herbert MacNair and in the summer of June 1900 Mackintosh was at work on bedroom furniture for the house.
