The serpentine shaped shelf with moulded edge, above a scrolled cartouche centred by an 18th century lady holding a bird, flanked on each side by a triangular panel deeply carved with fruit, scrolling foliage and a lion mask, the angled jambs each headed by a scrolled volute above a putto hanging from a fruit and foliate pendant, above a stepped block foot, with rectangular hearth surround and gold-painted cast-iron grate, the back stamped T. BENT & SONS 11
