TWO PECTORAL CROSSES
Byzantine, 6th - 9th century
One formed in two halves and hinged at the top; decorated in relief with the Crucifixion on one side and the Virgin Orans and the four Evangelists on the other; the second cross decorated with rope-twist borders and five cells for cabochons, four of which are lacking.
Traces of oxidisation and surface dirt; warping and damages.
4¼ and 3¾ in. (10.8 and 9.5 cm.) high (2)
