Unsigned, Edo Period (18th Century)
The first oval with applied himotoshi in the form of bamboo plants; carved ground finished in black lacquer; decoration in gold takamaki-e; compartments and risers gold nashiji, shoulders and rims gold fundame; unsigned; slight old wear, cord missing; metal ojime; the second with three cases, rectangular with integral himotoshi; black lacquer ground; decoration in gold, aokin, silver and coloured hiramaki-e with gold foil; compartments and risers gold nashiji, shoulders and rims gold fundame; unsigned; slight old wear
The first carved as a grove of bamboo and with a tiger on one side; the second with dragon roundels and clouds
