Madame Gid was première chanteuse in the Choir of the Chapel of King Charles X of France. The present extremely well painted portrait is based on a signed miniature by Daniel Saint, formerly in the collection of Charles Bernard, sold Hôtel Drouot, Paris, 21-22 February 1906, lot 136.
