Paganini thanks the recipient for instructions transmitted to him by Andrew Barnard, and confirms arrangements for a concert on Wednesday evening, the 29th of the same month, with a repeat on Thursday 28th [sic: i.e. 30th] at a quarter to twelve. The letter ends with profuse expressions of compliments.
The great violinist had made his London debut on 3 June 1831, to rapturous acclaim; in the course of the year, he gave 18 concerts in London, 22 in Ireland, 23 in Scotland and 49 in the provinces. The receipts for the London concerts alone were more than £10,000. In fact, Paganini seems not to have proceeded with the concerts discusses here: on 29 June he played a private performance for the Royal Family; while on the 30th he gave a charity concert for Adult Orphans.
